About the Role
The Animal Care Technician (ACT) I is responsible for the daily operational maintenance of animal facilities and providing appropriate daily husbandry to various laboratory animal species in accordance with all training, guidelines, regulations, and SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily vivarium physical plant and animal husbandry & maintenance duties, including cage changing, cage washing, animal & supplies receipt, inventory control & stocking, and vivarium sanitation.
- Maintain animal facilities through sanitization of animal rooms, corridors, and equipment.
- Provide appropriate daily husbandry to animals, predominantly rodents.
- Manage consumable supplies inventory, including ordering and receipt of incoming animals & supplies.
- Maintain quality control documentation for husbandry tasks and facility equipment.
- Provide collaborative support for cage wash operations, including cleaning and sanitizing cages and related equipment.
- Support weekend, holiday, emergency, and after-hour operational responsibilities.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and move heavy objects.
- Must be able to work from a standing position for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion tasks.
- Must be available to support weekend, holiday, emergency, and after-hour operational responsibilities.
