About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Elasticsearch Platforms Engineer to join our Data Platforms Infrastructure team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying and maintaining our Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) environments, enabling secure, scalable and high‑performing Observability and Search capabilities across mission‑critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor and maintain Elastic Cloud Enterprise environments, including cluster upgrades, patching and troubleshooting.
- Design and deploy secure, scalable Elasticsearch solutions for Observability and Search.
- Implement best‑practice indexing, storage and data retrieval strategies.
- Apply strong security, privacy and compliance principles across the Elasticsearch ecosystem.
- Monitor cluster performance and optimise configurations to improve reliability and reduce latency.
- Work closely with DevOps, Security and Development teams to integrate Elasticsearch with wider platforms.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation and innovation across the Elasticsearch platform.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Elasticsearch architecture, components, APIs and data indexing.
- Experience designing and deploying Elasticsearch solutions for Observability and Search.
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as GDPR or HIPAA.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Python, Bash, Ansible).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Cloudera, Hadoop, Cloudera Data Science Workbench or Cloudera Machine Learning.
- Must be able to meet the nationality and residency requirements for the highest level of UK Government security clearance.
- Must be able to gain and maintain UK-Highest Level of Government Clearance.
