About the Role

Brightway's Maintenance Mechanic maintains buildings and homes for the people Brightway supports in a professional manner. Must have prior experience as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, painter or landscaper.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain buildings and homes in a professional and safe manner
  • Complete work orders and job assignments in a timely and professional manner
  • Interact appropriately and politely with all staff and clients
  • Offer suggestions on how best to maintain buildings and homes
  • Identify and repair all potential safety, maintenance or citation issues
  • Keep appropriate records and receipts
  • On call 24-7 for all agency emergencies
  • Must be available for snow and ice removal
  • Must be flexible to stay late, or come in early or work weekends for projects or agency events as assigned
  • Must be willing to perform all aspects of work in the Maintenance Dept. on an “as needed” basis (mop calls, landscaping, painting, cleaning, etc.)

Requirements

  • Must possess a skill in one of the following trades: carpenter, plumbing, electrical, painting and/or landscaping
  • NYS drivers license and approved to drive Brightway vehicles
  • Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Twist/kneel/bend/squat/pull
  • Stand on minimum 6 ft. ladder
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
