About the Role

Works closely with the RN in all aspects of registrant care to ensure continuity of care. Responsible for the delivery of care as directed by the RN, including administering medications and treatments, and charting.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician's orders and established policies.
  • Chart medication administration and treatments in appropriate places.
  • Check and reorder medication/treatment supplies.
  • Carry out ADHC administration and registrant care duties.
  • Support and demonstrate practice consistent with St. Luke ADHC philosophy, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor ADHC staff for compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in emergency care as necessary.
  • Provide concise and accurate reports to the RN.
  • Receive reports from the RN.
  • Transcribe physician's orders and complete necessary forms.
  • Assist with the orientation, instruction, and supervision of other registrant care personnel.
  • Assist the RN with evaluating registrant's needs, condition, and care.
  • Review registrant's medical and social history.
  • Relieve CNAs for breaks and mealtime when necessary.
  • Monitor registrant mealtimes as directed.
  • Direct and assist with unit cleaning, and the care of supplies, equipment, and appliances.
  • Follow proper policy and procedure with maintenance of controlled substances.
  • Clean and maintain the medication room.
  • Assist Activities Staff with activity functions.
  • Supervise and assist RCAs in all care areas, ensuring proper procedures for personal hygiene and daily activities.
  • Provide reports and instructions to RCAs regarding special concerns.
  • Receive reports from RCAs at the end of the shift and as concerns are addressed.
  • Handle difficulties and/or problems in the ADHC, consulting with the RN or Director when assistance is needed.
  • Ensure weights and vital signs are taken and documented as ordered.
  • Verify information on the Consultation Sheet and ensure registrants are ready for scheduled appointments on time.
  • Assist the RN or Director with paperwork and transportation arrangements for emergency care.
  • Report accidents/incidents or medication errors to the RN or Director and complete appropriate forms.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all registrant care information.
  • Participate in St. Luke’s Quality Assurance Program.
  • Assist RCAs with registrant care as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be available to periodically work more than eight (8) hours per day, or more than forty (40) hours per week.
  • Must be able to supervise and instruct others professionally.
  • Must be well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with registrants, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Must have a good sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
