About the Role

The SACC Site Director will plan, organize, and lead a comprehensive enrichment program for children attending the school where the program operates, under the direction of the SACC Director. This position strongly impacts the way the YMCA accomplishes its mission by promoting an environment that teaches values, is healthy, safe, and provides opportunities for positive growth experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead all daily SACC program activities in accordance with YMCA policies and philosophy, ensuring child safety and well-being.
  • Actively participate in all activities and maintain a monthly calendar.
  • Observe and follow YMCA School Aged Child Care program guidelines, best practices, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services regulations.
  • Act as a positive role model for children through appropriate speech, actions, and attire.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, moral, and fun environment, treating all children with dignity and respect, and assessing and meeting individual needs.
  • Supervise behavior management using positive techniques and age-appropriate expectations, instilling safe environments and providing progressive discipline as needed.
  • Ensure a set homework time and provide assistance.
  • Ensure children receive nutritious snacks.
  • Communicate with school personnel and maintain open communication with building staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and program participants, bringing concerns to the SACC Director and others as necessary, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain clear records of daily attendance, expenses, and registration forms, and participate in program audits.
  • Conduct and maintain records of monthly fire drills, weekly safety checks, and other OCFS-mandated requirements.
  • Supervise site staff, conduct regular meetings, and evaluate staff performance through verbal feedback and formal evaluations.
  • Attend scheduled monthly staff meetings, workshops, and trainings.
  • Pursue professional development through continuing education, completing at least 30 hours every two years as required by OCFS.
  • Work as supportive staff in various YMCA programs as needed.
  • Adhere to Auburn YMCA-WEIU policies and procedures.
