About the Role

This individual contributor position works closely with senior level leaders to manage complex, high-exposure Employment Practices Liability, Private and Not-For-Profit D&O claims, including Community Associations. Responsibilities include managing all claim resolution activities in accordance with company protocols while achieving quality and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manages an inventory of complex EPL and Private and Not-For-Profit D&O claims with significant loss exposure.
  • Oversees all aspects of claim handling, including coverage determinations, investigations, and resolution strategies.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service by driving continuous improvements and achieving quality and cycle time standards.
  • Verifies coverage and manages timely and adequate reserves by reviewing policy language and estimating potential claim valuation.
  • Drives claim resolution by collaborating with internal and external partners to develop and execute resolution strategies.
  • Establishes and manages claim budgets by selecting and managing appropriate resources.
  • Achieves quality standards by ensuring company protocols are followed, work is accurate and timely, and claims are resolved and paid promptly.
  • Prepares and presents high-profile, complex information to senior leadership, customers, and counsel.
  • Maintains subject matter expertise and ensures compliance with state/local regulatory requirements.
  • Mentors, guides, develops, and trains less experienced Claim Professionals.
  • May assist with special projects as needed.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
  • Advanced negotiation experience.

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of Specialty insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to articulate complex claim facts, analysis, and recommendations concisely.
  • Demonstrated analytical and investigative mindset with critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate and resolve ambiguous, complex, and challenging business problems.
  • Extensive experience in leading complex negotiations.
  • Experience developing and implementing resolution strategies.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to drive results by taking a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
  • Extensive experience interpreting Specialty insurance policies and coverage.
  • Ability to partner with internal resources.
  • Ability to oversee/manage outside counsel.
  • Ability to collaborate with other carriers.
  • Ability to lead multiple and shifting priorities in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn business-related software.
  • Demonstrated ability to value diverse opinions and ideas.

Salary/Compensations

  • $97,000 to $189,000 annually
