About the Role
Comcast Technology and Product Experience (TPX) is seeking an experienced Android Developer to join the Connected Living Protection Experiences Engineering team. This group is responsible for customer-facing mobile application development for Comcast’s Home Security IoT product offerings, including the native Android Xfinity application. This role offers an ideal opportunity for engineers who enjoy building highly dynamic, user-facing features, working with connected device ecosystems, and contributing to scalable mobile architectures.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Android features for Home Protection experiences.
- Collaborate with product, backend, and device teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Contribute to app architecture, design discussions, and high-leverage technical decisions.
- Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code using modern Android frameworks, while utilizing cross-platform frameworks where appropriate.
- Implement and expand dynamic, Spec-Driven Development (SDD) rendering frameworks to deliver backend-driven mobile UI.
- Improve app performance, reliability, and user experience across hardware/software integration layers.
- Debug and resolve complex production and connectivity issues.
- Participate in code reviews and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) or building UI frameworks driven dynamically by backend JSON schemas.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and managing complex client-side state logic.
- Familiarity with MVVM, Clean Architecture, or similar architecture patterns.
- Solid debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Professional experience or deep familiarity with Flutter and Dart for cross-platform mobile development.
- Experience building smart home, IoT, hardware activation, or physical device orchestration workflows.
- Familiarity with Jetpack Compose and modern Android development tools.
- Understanding of Android permissions, privacy constraints, and app lifecycles.
- Experience building or maintaining large-scale consumer applications.
