About the Role

Buffalo Hearing & Speech is seeking Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) to evaluate, diagnose, and implement treatment programs for individuals with communication disorders in educational settings. We serve BHSC schools, clinics, and community needs throughout WNY and welcome CFY candidates and licensed therapists.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and recommend therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders.
• Implement Speech-Language Pathology treatment programs to habilitate or rehabilitate students.
• Provide Speech-Language Pathology instruction.
• Determine the type and severity of speech-language impairment.
• Determine prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
• Collaborate with other professionals, including teachers, SLPs, OTs, PTs, and Audiologists.
• Submit written reports for evaluations, treatment plans, progress, and discharge.
• Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines.
• Complete paperwork in a timely and organized fashion.
• Make appropriate referrals for positive therapeutic results.
• Communicate regularly with family and students.
• Exhibit professional judgment and maturity.
• Upgrade professional knowledge through continuing education.
• Participate in in-service programs and formal staff training.
• Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
• Supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, adhering to legal guidelines and agency policies.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisors.

Requirements

• Must apply and fully complete an application to be considered.
• Must possess New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible).
• Must possess Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible).
• Must possess Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Profession certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate (for school positions).
• Physical actions may include bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
• Vision, speech, tactical, and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
• Frequent sitting/standing and, when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
