About the Role
Responsible for the daily operation of a program site, ensuring the health, safety, and nutrition of children. This is a school-year position (August-June), with potential for summer employment in other roles.
Responsibilities
- Follow all CDC, OCFS, and DOH guidelines for after-school programs.
- Accurately track all arrivals, departures, and absences.
- Design room arrangements to facilitate a variety of experiences.
- Designate daily responsibilities for assistants, substitutes, and volunteers.
- Plan age-appropriate and stimulating activities aligned with YMCA and NSACA goals.
- Plan a variety of nutritious snacks.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of all program areas.
- Maintain open communication with parents, administration, and school personnel.
- Purchase and maintain adequate inventory of equipment and consumables.
- Keep accurate records of petty cash expenditures.
- Secure and maintain all necessary health and emergency records.
- Document all accident and incident reports.
- Maintain a log book.
- Conduct monthly fire drills.
- Conduct bi-monthly staff meetings.
- Maintain frequent communication with the Program Director.
- Coordinate parent/staff meetings.
- Attend mandatory trainings.
- Plan and distribute a monthly newsletter to parents and administration.
- Record and submit weekly attendance records for site staff by the deadline.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must submit to an inquiry with the State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
- Must submit a yearly fingerprint card to the Office of Children and Family Services.
- Must be sensitive and mature, able to relate well to both children and adults.
- Needs personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
- Must have a physical including a Mantoux test.

Experience Level

- Associate Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field
- Two years of college with 18 credits in the above areas or concentration
Salary/Compensations
- $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly
