About the Role
The Assistant Production Manager (APM) reports to the Supervising Producer and works closely with the Production Manager to oversee production logistics in prep, on set, and for wrap. The APM is the point of contact for transpo, gear requests, locations and scouts, and permits during prep. On set, the APM supports shifting production needs, problem-solves, and oversees gear load in/out, while also supporting health and safety standards. During wrap, the APM leads CFC gear inventory, coordinates rental drop-off schedules, manages equipment, and supports financial reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Participate in production meetings and support/execute production plans with the Supervising Producer, PM & Resident Producers.
- Attend location and technical scouts and handle location considerations with PM & Supervising Producer.
- Provide hands-on prep and production support to filmmaking teams, ensuring crew, locations, supplies, and equipment needs are met.
- Work with CFC Residents and On-set Reps to deliver on production schedules for all CFC shoots.
- Track and monitor the CFC’s in-house production equipment, anticipating technical needs and ensuring proper sign-out/in and maintenance.
- Support additional gear requests with suppliers as directed by the SP and PM.
- Manage the transport schedule for gear pick-ups and other production needs.
- Inventory craft and location supplies and coordinate purchases.
- Schedule and support camera, G&E, and sound gear prep with vendors or at the CFC.
- Prepare ACTRA contracts, permits, deal memos, timesheets, and remittance forms.
- Support the creation of applications to ESA, AOS, and more.
- Create Purchase Orders and provide accounting support under the supervision of the PM.
- Work closely with keys and provide direction to the crew.
- Support the SP & production team with recruitment and placement of BTL Intensive trainees.
- Ensure CFC sets operate safely and professionally according to industry standards and CFC COVID protocols.
- Ensure quality control of footage and audio, and coordinate with the Post Production Manager for proper delivery of footage.
- Update the Supervising Producer & Production Manager on productions, focusing on health and safety requirements and managing incident reports if necessary.
- Maintain a professional and inclusive experience and work processes throughout production.
- Wrap productions and manage gear inventory with the PM and SP.
Requirements
- 2-3 years related professional on-set production experience in film/tv production.
- Has built a strong crew network and strong relationships within the industry.
- Excellent knowledge of union/guild best practices and passion for the production process.
- First-hand knowledge and experience with ACTRA paperwork and reporting requirements.
- Understanding of basic production gear packages (camera, G&E, and sound) and technical needs for film production.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, multitasking, problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure.
- Committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the industry.
- 2-3 years experience working in a creative environment and with creators.
- Valid Driver's License.
- First Aid Training is an asset.
- Knowledge of Google Workplace, Salesforce, Slack, Asana, and Microsoft suite is an asset.
- Final selection stage includes asking candidates for 3 professional references from their formal supervisors.

Salary/Compensations
- $52,000 annual salary
