About the Role
Join the team revolutionizing automotive retail by building high-performance, customer-centric digital storefronts for GM's global vehicle commerce platform. Design and develop scalable, accessible, and reusable UI components using TypeScript, React/Next.js, and SolidJS web components, powering seamless vehicle inventory search, filtering, and discovery experiences. Work within a micro frontend architecture, contribute to the internal design system, and drive innovation through behavior analytics, accessibility best practices, and performance optimization. Champion AI-assisted development, automate workflows, and modernize the frontend stack.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, accessible, and reusable UI components
- Power seamless vehicle inventory search, filtering, and discovery experiences
- Work within a micro frontend architecture using a monorepo
- Contribute to our internal design system
- Drive innovation through behavior analytics, accessibility best practices, and performance optimization
- Champion AI-assisted development practices
- Automate repetitive workflows
- Continuously modernize the frontend stack
- Build search-driven UIs with advanced filtering, faceted navigation, sorting, and pagination
- Implement real-time data feeds and event-driven UI updates
- Build responsive media galleries with optimized image loading
- Build comparison and shortlisting experiences
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in frontend software development
- Proven track record in designing scalable component architectures
- Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Deep understanding of modern frontend patterns (hooks, server components, SSR/SSG, ISR)
- Hands-on experience with SolidJS or similar reactive frameworks, ideally building web components
- Strong command of CSS/SASS/Tailwind CSS with experience implementing responsive, brand-themed designs
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and modern programming paradigms
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor peers, and drive strategic decisions
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams
- Experience designing and building reusable UI/Web component libraries and contributing to or consuming an enterprise design system
- Hands-on experience with backend Java, Spring Boot, Quarkus, Azure, and CICD
- Expertise in accessibility programming (WCAG 2.x compliance)
- Proficiency in frontend testing and quality tooling — Vitest, Playwright, BrowserStack, or equivalent
- Experience with micro frontend architecture and modular build systems
- Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
