About the Role

The Texas Democratic Party (TDP) is seeking a dynamic Senior Communications Advisor to drive earned media coverage and communicate the party’s message, overseeing the communications and messaging strategy for the 2026 gubernatorial race. This on-the-record role involves managing internal and external communications, developing plans, executing events, working with reporters, and holding Greg Abbott accountable.

Responsibilities

Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson for the governor’s race.
Plan and oversee events, including press conferences, press calls, and creative earned media opportunities.
Draft media materials such as press releases, talking points, online content, and statements.
Write short-term and long-term communications plans.
Develop pitch ideas and pitch stories to reporters both in Texas and nationally.
Respond to media inquiries.
Collaborate with staff to manage challenging communications situations, including crisis communications.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in political communications.
At least one cycle of experience on a statewide campaign is preferred.
On-the-record experience is required.
Demonstrated ability to execute creative earned media campaigns.
Previous experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced campaign environment with unpredictable hours.
