About the Role

Provide support to victims and their children, offering emotional and logistical assistance to help them overcome challenges related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and counseling via telephone or in person.
• Collaborate with on-site consultants/clinicians for comprehensive client services.
• Offer field accompaniment for clients to medical, criminal justice, civil legal, and social services.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop individual care plans.
• Coordinate with community-based organizations to enhance client accessibility and options.
• Serve as the liaison with La Casa’s project partner.
• Develop and implement training or support programs covering vocational, educational, money management, life skills, healthy relationships, and health education.
• Assist in providing services including referrals for healthcare, mental health, substance abuse prevention/treatment, intimate partner/domestic violence, family support, vocational, educational, and employment services.
• Support daily operations, including phone coverage, site supervision, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
• Participate in regular staff and case management meetings.
• Maintain and submit program documentation according to grant requirements.
• Facilitate various support groups.
• Maintain a clean workspace, including cleaning after client interviews and facility usage.
• Perform other service site-specific duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Behavioral Sciences with a minimum of two years of verifiable case management experience in the relevant field, OR an Associate degree with three years of verifiable case management experience, OR a GED/High School diploma with five years of verifiable case management experience.
• Significant experience in domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, and physical illnesses.
• Experience working in a dynamic, diverse, multicultural, and multilingual setting.
• Knowledge of case management, counseling techniques, peer counseling models, crisis intervention, social milieu, and group facilitation.
• Working knowledge of community resources in the San Francisco area.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with a strong commitment.
• Ability to approach work with a positive, supportive, and sensitive attitude.
• Ability to respond sensitively to women, teens, and children in crisis or seeking support.
• Ability to fulfill physical job requirements including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and walking up and down stairs multiple times daily.
• Understanding of confidentiality and privilege laws governing domestic violence work.
• Verifiable completion of state-mandated 40-hour domestic violence counselor training, or completion during the next scheduled agency training.
• Must work one overnight shift at La Casa’s emergency shelter.
• Clearance through DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting is required.
• La Casa de las Madres will consider applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with San Francisco’s Fair Chance Ordinance.
• Valid CA driver's license may be required (depending on the position) with a clean driving record and insurability under agency policy.
• TB (Tuberculosis) clearance.
• Multi-lingual preferred: English/Spanish/Mandarin.
