About the Role

Oversee all aspects of the Beacon afterschool and summer camp program, ensuring adherence to RiseBoro, funding source, and licensing agency policies and procedures. Focus on participant safety, enrichment, and program goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, security, and enrichment of each participant by following all RiseBoro after-school protocols.
  • Provide oversight and supervision of the entire program, including budget development and modifications.
  • Assist with hiring, ongoing support, supervision, and evaluation of staff.
  • Ensure all required program elements are provided and oversee outreach, recruitment, application, enrollment, and retention processes.
  • Ensure program participants have resources to attain their goals.
  • Convene participant and parent orientations.
  • Plan and organize program activities to meet contract goals and performance targets.
  • Complete quarterly RiseBoro Board of Directors reports.
  • Maintain contact with DYCD officials and staff.
  • Prepare and submit all required program reports and verification tools to DYCD on a timely basis.
  • Ensure the program physical site has all required equipment and meets OCFS School Age Childcare (SACC) requirements.
  • Ensure all staff have appropriate training and documentation as outlined in SACC, NYC DOH license, and DYCD contract.
  • Enter into consultant and subcontractor agreements, ensuring all required documents are on file.
  • Secure all necessary approvals prior to commencing services.
  • Attend all necessary RiseBoro, DYCD, DOH, and OCFS trainings.
  • Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the Director of Youth Services.
  • Ensure the program is appropriately staffed at all times.
  • Provide leadership and direction to teams for high performance, acting as a coach.
  • Manage team performance to ensure quality and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff.
  • Supervise and coordinate all program activities of staff, convening regular meetings.
  • Communicate daily with staff to ensure deadlines are met and issues are addressed.
  • Prepare/review timesheets bi-weekly and submit for processing.
  • Maintain all personnel and program records.
  • Ensure proper staff coverage for scheduled and unscheduled time off.

Requirements

  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Three years of experience administering youth programs.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet set deadlines.
  • Strong organization, communication, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage and engage teams.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond program mandates for the safety and benefit of children.
  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias.
