About the Role
The Domain Architect has technical expertise within their domain focus area, understanding the capabilities of a business application family and/or set of technologies. They ensure these capabilities are optimized and evaluate technologies against market trends to meet current and future needs. This role contributes to the domain roadmap, standards, and practices within the Enterprise Architecture and supports solution development.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the domain roadmap, standards, and practices into the overall Enterprise Architecture.
- Support solution development efforts guided by Solutions Architects.
- Ensure efficient governance over the domain for compliant, standard, and supportable technology incorporation.
- Apply technology in their domain to solve business problems in a supportable, cost-effective way.
- Assess current capabilities and future needs to identify necessary changes to domain technologies or practices.
- Develop guidance for incorporating domain technology into solutions, including standards, reference architectures, solution guidelines, and metrics.
- Define patterns and building blocks that leverage domain technologies optimally.
- Understand technology trends and their practical application to enable evolving business needs.
- Define high-level migration plans to address current and future state gaps.
- Analyze the current technology environment to detect deficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Analyze technology industry and market trends for potential impact on the enterprise and its architecture.
- Mentor and collaborate with subject matter experts and EA to develop technology architecture.
- Facilitate research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards.
- Design standard configurations and technology platforms.
- Identify organizational and financial impacts of technology architecture changes.
- Participate in Eversource Enterprise Architecture processes as the expert in their domain(s).
- Align architects with peers.
- Incorporate domain standards, practices, guidance, and roadmaps into Eversource Architects.
- Communicate domain information via architecture documents, meetings, or other channels.
- Periodically review and maintain the accuracy of domain information.
- Develop standards, practices, and roadmaps for integration into the Eversource EA and for solution development.
- Provide technology consulting to solution architects and others using or modifying multiple domain technologies within a solution.
- Ensure technology operates coherently to meet overall needs.
- Integrate knowledge from subject matter experts and peers from other technical areas.
- Provide governance over solutions that leverage their domain technologies.
- Be available to work emergency storm assignments as required.
- Be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Respond to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs.
Requirements
- Applicants requiring visa sponsorship will not be considered.
- Must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed.
- Minimum of three (3) years in an IT Architect or Lead Subject Matter Expert role.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience working with technology or application solutions, including experience in architecture, design, implementation, support, and management of appropriate technologies.
- Exposure to multiple, various technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
- Deep knowledge of one technical domain, or experience working with multiple technical domains.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how domains relate and can be assembled into comprehensive solutions.
- Knowledge of many, if not most, aspects of the technology domain architecture, including current technology and vendors, emerging capabilities, best practices and patterns, cost models, and management and operating model considerations.
- Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies.
- Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM).
- Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls.
- Ability to work effectively with business and technical roles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
