About the Role

The Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club is seeking a part-time Cook I specializing in pastry to join the Food & Beverage Department. This role focuses on the production of food and pastry goods while providing operational kitchen support to ensure an exceptional member experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute food production as delegated by kitchen management
  • Operate assigned stations and prepare menu items according to specifications
  • Follow established recipes and maintain quality standards
  • Work across ala carte, banquet, and pastry stations
  • Manage mis-en-place requirements for menus
  • Prepare food based on authorized bills, requisitions, or banquet contracts
  • Monitor refrigerator supplies and report deficiencies to management
  • Maintain awareness of food quality, rotation, storage, and stock levels
  • Coordinate production activities with other departments
  • Participate in the requisitioning, receiving, and storage of products
  • Practice FIFO methods to minimize spoilage and waste
  • Verify product specifications during stock storage
  • Guide Cook II and Cook in Training staff
  • Expand culinary knowledge by rotating through various stations
  • Comply with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and internal safety policies
  • Adhere to the Well Played service model to support member services

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of cooking experience in a Club, Hotel, or related industry
  • Minimum 1 year of pastry kitchen experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, recipes, and menu execution
  • Ability to prepare small and large quantities of food in a fast-paced environment
  • Open availability for mornings, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays
