About the Role
The Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club is seeking a full-time Chef de Partie to assist the Sous Chefs and Executive Chef in the operation of the a la carte or banquet kitchen. This role is crucial for maintaining exceptional culinary experiences within our family-oriented, private club environment.
Responsibilities
- Manages culinary operations to ensure quality, consistency, and safety standards.
- Prepares basic components of each dish on the menu using established recipes.
- Memorizes and utilizes serving portion sizes and basic meal prep procedures.
- Ensures the kitchen, food prep areas, and storage areas meet cleaning standards.
- Works with the culinary team to perform portion prep work for other shifts.
- Monitors product freshness and rotates out old product according to schedule.
- Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees.
- Serves as a role model, building trust, respect, and cooperation amongst staff.
- Promotes teamwork and synergy with front of the house and kitchen staff.
- Leads, coaches, and develops the culinary team in various service styles.
- Collaborates with kitchen management on food cost and waste reduction.
- Optimizes utilization of facilities, equipment, and labor through planning, scheduling, ordering, and inventory control.
- Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Club safety policies.
- Conducts self in alignment with the Well Played service model (Prompt, Personalized, Polite).
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Cook 1 or similar role in a hotel, multi-faceted operation, private club, or hospitality environment.
- Less experience would be considered as Cook I.
- Mandatory certifications in Canadian Red Seal and Sanitation.
- Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced, unionized environment.
- Excellent leadership, professionalism, and commitment to member service.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities and excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work weeknights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
