About the Role
Lead and manage the preconstruction process for construction projects, primarily in the education sector, from tender stage to main contract award. This involves collaborating with clients, consultants, the supply chain, and internal teams to develop construction strategies and methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Review tender information and develop bid strategies.
- Take ownership of bid submissions, coordinating, writing, and reviewing content.
- Manage and liaise with bid managers and writers.
- Establish tender delivery programs, contribute to resource schedules/budgets, and monitor progress.
- Lead internal and external tender meetings.
- Visit project sites to assess construction-related items and constraints.
- Meet with clients and designers to understand project constraints.
- Identify and select consultants, designers, and supply chain partners.
- Engage clients, designers, and the supply chain in developing design and construction methodology.
- Prepare presentation slides for mid and post-tender interviews.
- Manage the second stage of the tender process through to contract award.
- Visit live construction sites to inform future tenders.
- Support national/inter-regional bids and initiatives.
Requirements
- Ability to lead the preconstruction team, coordinating design, commercial, planning, and construction disciplines.
- Good understanding of positively influencing health and safety during tenders.
- Excellent communication skills with clients and consultants.
- Ability to align offers and add value to client projects.
- Ability to gain the confidence of bid and project delivery teams.
- Confidence to challenge proposed construction methodology, commercial, program, and design aspects.
- Strong project/construction management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, commercial, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in collating and writing content for quality tender submissions.
- Good knowledge of MS Office programs (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Effective presentation skills.
