About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and pragmatic Compliance Risk Lead to enhance and scale Selina Finance's compliance and risk framework. This role involves shaping the second line of defence, developing the compliance monitoring program, and serving as a key advisor to business teams within a fast-growing fintech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP), establishing second-line oversight across underwriting, customer service, and broker due diligence.
  • Lead regulatory change horizon scanning, assessing the impact of new FCA rules and translating them into actionable business strategies.
  • Manage the policy framework, including reviewing, drafting, and approving policies, and maintaining the compliance handbook.
  • Develop and maintain the risk register and risk matrix, identifying new risks and driving mitigation actions.
  • Conduct onboarding and annual due diligence for suppliers, technology providers, and partners, and enhance third-party oversight.
  • Review and approve financial promotions, providing compliance sign-off and advising on product journeys, website content, and partner materials.
  • Support fraud referrals, investigations, and external reporting, and contribute to handling FOS complaints.
  • Deliver compliance training across the business on topics such as fraud and vulnerable customers.
  • Partner with Product, Growth, Legal, and Credit on new commercial ventures, ensuring regulatory compliance from project inception.

Requirements

  • Solid compliance and/or risk experience within an FCA-regulated consumer lending or mortgage business, preferably in second-line roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook (e.g., MCOB, CONC, DISP, SYSC), Consumer Duty, and the financial promotions regime.
  • Proven experience in building and/or running compliance monitoring programmes, policies, and risk registers.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
  • Confident communicator capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organised, self-sufficient, and able to manage a broad workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
