About the Role

The Emerson Test & Measurement/National Instruments (NI) Transportation Business Unit (TBU) Customer Centric Solutions (CCS) Team is seeking a Staff Systems Design Engineer (Electrical) to work on custom solution projects. This role involves defining, designing, documenting, deploying, and sustaining NI systems tailored to customer requirements for turnkey engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers, NI staff, external partners, and suppliers to design, implement, and sustain custom solutions.
  • Specify and define system configurations and electrical/electronic designs, including parts and component selection.
  • Define electrical interfaces within a system and design custom components and cables.
  • Prototype, test, and deploy turnkey automated solutions in the Automotive industry.
  • Travel as needed (up to 25%) domestically and abroad.
  • Define and implement project plans, manage milestones, and conduct reviews.
  • Direct support personnel, manage technical deliverables, guide technical decisions, and resolve field issues.
  • Generate requirements documents, statements of work, and Bills of Materials.
  • Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment.
  • Problem-solve effectively, identifying technical issues and proposing solutions.
  • Take initiative and work independently.
  • Adapt quickly to changing project needs and requirements.
  • Drive tasks and lead projects to successful completion.
  • Learn applicable technology, systems, and products.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and drive to succeed.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design, Electrical Engineering, or Test Engineering Design Role.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architectures.
  • Familiarity with high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#).
  • Demonstrated understanding of appropriate selection of instrumentation and equipment to meet system requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and signal routing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of measurement methodologies and sources of measurement error.
  • Experience with integration of hardware and software.
  • Experience with Bill of Materials creation and review.
  • Familiarity with CAD and electrical/electronic design tools.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual).
