About the Role

The Portfolio Associate will support the OEGEN funds team, specifically Octopus Renewables Infrastructure SCSp, a Luxembourg-based partnership managing nearly £3bn in renewable energy and energy infrastructure assets. This role involves valuation, portfolio management, and value creation, with opportunities for growth as the fund expands.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver quarterly valuation updates for assigned assets, including updating DCF models, refreshing assumptions, reviewing outputs, and preparing valuation bridges.
  • Contribute to Valuation Committee papers, ensuring they are clear, concise, and decision-useful.
  • Develop a deep understanding of valuation drivers and challenge assumptions where evidence is weak.
  • Use new tools to improve model consistency, control, and efficiency, including advanced Excel, VBA, and automation.
  • Support engagement with external valuers, auditors, and other advisers.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance portfolio value through refinancing, capital structure optimization, asset life extensions, and operational improvements.
  • Develop business cases, undertake financial analysis, and track realised value creation.
  • Support the delivery of annual performance targets by assisting the asset management team with commercial decision-making.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with debt structures and lender requirements within asset portfolios.
  • Ensure debt, refinancing, covenant, hedging, FX, and interest-rate assumptions are appropriately reflected in budgets and models.
  • Monitor investor returns, track record, and other asset and fund KPIs.
  • Ensure new acquisitions are effectively onboarded into the fund management and valuation process.
  • Support the creation of investor reports and other materials.
  • Support new acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, and portfolio decisions through valuation analysis and model review.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years relevant working experience.
  • Previous experience in infrastructure, renewable energy, infrastructure asset management, project finance, or infrastructure valuation.
  • Experience of modelling, specifically discounted cash-flow modelling and debt modelling skills.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities.
  • A strong understanding of fund management processes for debt and equity for listed funds.
  • Strong written skills, with experience preparing valuation papers, investment papers, committee papers, board materials, or investor-facing analysis.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Detail-oriented, taking accountability for the accuracy of every output and able to self-review.
  • Able to plan ahead, work under pressure, and deliver to deadlines.
  • Able to interpret information and distil concisely.
  • Able to demonstrate good verbal and written skills.
  • Able to collaborate as a team player, flexible in approach, and able to support others.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving business, see solutions, be passionate about improving processes, models, and customer outcomes, and be excited by challenges.
