About the Role

MUFG is seeking an Analyst / Associate, Trade Client Service to join its Transaction Banking team in Sydney. This role involves delivering exceptional service across trade finance products and acting as a key interface between clients and internal stakeholders for seamless execution of cross-border transactions while upholding risk governance and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with clients by providing timely responses to queries and managing trade transactions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for trade finance clients, managing enquiries, transaction execution, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of trade transactions, including issuance, advising, amendments, settlements, and post-issuance follow-up.
  • Ensure all transactions are processed accurately and promptly in accordance with client requirements and internal standards.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential operational or transactional issues.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on documentary trade products and provide technical guidance.
  • Assist with credit request narrations and support credit queries and structuring discussions.
  • Work closely with regional and global teams to ensure smooth handling of cross-border transactions.
  • Support client onboarding processes, service reviews, due diligence updates, and product deepening initiatives.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities based on client needs.
  • Maintain rigorous oversight of operational risk by ensuring strict adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and transaction controls.
  • Support a zero-breach compliance environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in transaction banking or financial services with strong technical acumen in handling complex trade finance products.
  • Interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse clients and collaborate seamlessly with colleagues.
  • Analyst: 1+ years experience in trade finance or transaction banking client service or operations.
  • Associate: 3+ years demonstrated experience in trade finance or transaction banking client service or operations.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business / Commerce / Economics.
  • Comprehensive technical understanding of Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs), Bank Guarantees, including issuance and settlement.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICC rules (UCP 600, ISP98, URDG 758) and market practices.
  • Experience identifying business development or revenue expansion opportunities.
  • Exposure to credit processes related to trade loan products or structured trade solutions is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with regional regulatory environments across APAC/Australia is beneficial.
  • Proven track record managing cross-border transactions involving international clients.
  • Ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling positive influence and co-operative relationships.
