About the Role
Lead the Produce Department at Sprouts Farmers Market, focusing on sales, operations, quality control, merchandising, and team development. This role involves teaching customers about fresh produce and delivering an extraordinary customer service experience in a fast-paced, friendly environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage sales and operations of the Produce Department.
- Ensure quality control, merchandising, cleanliness, and organization of the produce department.
- Oversee inventory management.
- Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development.
- Conduct bi-annual performance reviews and make recommendations for merit increases.
- Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
- Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
- Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
- Take and document corrective actions, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
- Ensure maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels.
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
- Lead a team to deliver high-quality products, excellent service, and a great customer experience.
- Serve as a Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- 1-3 years of experience in grocery retail with management experience in produce.
- Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
- Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 72”, for a distance up to 3 feet for between 10-50 hours without mechanical assistance.
- Ability to use a pallet jack to move pallets a distance up to 20 feet, requiring a force of up to 85 pounds for up to 5 hours.
- Ability to maneuver six-wheel carts requiring a force up to 35 lbs., up to 2 hours, a distance up to 20 feet.
- Ability to walk a total up to 5 miles in an 8-hour shift.
- Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
- Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
