About the Role
As a Senior Integrations Engineer, you will play a central role in how Zinc connects with the wider hiring and background-check ecosystem. You will build robust APIs and partner integrations that allow customers to leverage Zinc's data across their own tools, including our partner API and custom integrations with HR tech platforms like ATS and HRIS. You will collaborate with Product, customers, and partner companies to understand integration needs, design secure and reliable APIs, and ensure the longevity of systems connecting Zinc to the external world.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-impact, secure integrations with partner and customer systems that are clean, scalable, and built to last.
- Work directly with customers and partners to understand their integration needs and translate them into solid technical solutions.
- Own the design, build, and documentation of APIs that are secure, well-structured, and easy for partners to consume.
- Maintain, optimize, and secure systems for optimal performance at scale.
- Lead the resolution of complex integration challenges, transforming them into elegant, maintainable solutions.
- Stay current with new tools, trends, and best practices to continuously evolve the technology stack and processes.
- Take full ownership from initial concept to production, ensuring each integration delivers customer value.
Requirements
- Advanced skills with Node.js (Express) for building robust, scalable backend services.
- Comfortable performing light frontend work (Vue/Nuxt) as needed.
- Strong hands-on experience designing RESTful APIs.
- Solid grasp of API security practices including authentication, rate limiting, and data protection.
- Proven ability to create scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems, especially in integration and partner-facing architecture.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in delivering production-grade applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript best practices.
- Strong experience with databases and AWS services (Lambda, S3, API Gateway) for cloud-native solutions.
- Proficiency with testing tools like Jest to ensure quality and reliability.
- Comfortable leading technical conversations with customers and partners regarding integration needs.
- Ability to thrive in cross-functional teams, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and external partners.
- Ability to clearly explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contributes to a positive and respectful team culture.
- Mentorship experience is a bonus.
