About the Role

The SAP Internship Experience Program is a global, strategic, paid internship designed for university students to find purpose in their careers. Responsibilities

  • Work on cross-product UX consistency initiatives across SAP Signavio’s Process Intelligence suite.
  • Contribute to systematic design pattern development.
  • Perform large-scale UX audits.
  • Develop AI-assisted design workflows with impact across SAP’s Process Intelligence suite.
  • Standardize patterns across SAP’s Process Intelligence suite used by thousands of enterprise users.
  • Eliminate systemic UX debt.
  • Create design system contributions.
  • Build AI-assisted tooling that enables designers to self-serve compliance with SAP Fiori guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Design System team to contribute patterns to shared component libraries.
  • Present work and gather feedback from cross-functional designers.
  • Engage in mentorship-focused activities with 1:1s weekly and continuous feedback.
  • Gain expertise in enterprise design systems, UX auditing methodology, and AI-augmented design workflows.
  • Develop technical skills in Figma API, UI5 Web Components architecture, and AI prompting.
  • Build portfolio case studies documenting systematic approaches to enterprise design challenges.
  • Create Claude Code skills or Figma components used by other designers.
  • Progress from learning SAP Fiori guidelines to owning full project workstreams.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university program in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
  • Demonstrable Figma experience (personal projects, coursework, or professional work).
  • Understanding of design systems concepts (components, variants, reusability, consistency).
  • Interest in enterprise software or B2B products.
  • Exposure to systematic problem-solving or research methodologies.
  • Figma fluency: Comfortable with components, variants, auto-layout, constraints, design systems.
  • Claude Code familiarity or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Design systems mindset: Understanding of reusable patterns, component libraries, design tokens.
  • Basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript knowledge (nice-to-have).
  • Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) (nice-to-have).
  • Prior work with enterprise design systems or component libraries (nice-to-have).
  • Portfolio showcasing systematic design thinking (case studies, research, audits) (nice-to-have).
  • Systematic thinking: Ability to identify patterns, categorize problems, structure complex information.
  • Pragmatic execution: Ship working solutions, iterate based on feedback, focus on impact over perfection.
  • Curiosity about “why”: Question patterns, understand constraints, reconcile conflicts between competing guidelines.
  • Collaboration over ego: Best ideas win regardless of source, open to feedback, comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Documentation discipline: Clear written communication, organized note-taking.
  • Comfort with technology: Not intimidated by AI tools or technical workflows, eager to learn new systems.
  • Fluent English (C1-C2 level).
