About the Role
We are expanding our bank of Visiting Lecturers to support our Law School, particularly for the Bar Practice Course (BPC). This role offers a flexible schedule with limited contact hours, ideal for those passionate about teaching and assessment in an academic setting alongside other commitments.
Responsibilities
- Teach and assess students on the Bar Practice Course (BPC).
- Deliver engaging teaching sessions across a range of advocacy, skills and professional practice areas.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support student development.
- Support students with academic queries and contribute to an excellent student learning experience.
- Teaching, assessment, marking, providing feedback and supporting students with academic queries.
Requirements
- A qualified Barrister and/or Solicitor with relevant professional experience and enthusiasm for teaching, or lecturers with substantial teaching experience in legal higher education.
- Current or recent experience of legal practice, with knowledge relevant to the Bar Practice Course.
- Organised and able to prioritise their own workload.
- Confident and articulate presentation skills.
- Punctual, with good time management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, whilst recognising when advice/input needs to be sought.
- Demonstrates proficiency in managing and navigating IT systems to support efficient academic and administrative processes.
- Must be able to prove the right to work in the UK.
