About the Role
Entertainment content producers with a passion for reality TV, celebrities, and royals are sought for a Digital Editor role at New Idea magazine. This leadership position involves managing a team of two, overseeing the digital platform and social accounts, driving page views and engagement, and achieving traffic targets. The role bridges print and digital content, contributing to the growth of an iconic entertainment brand.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the news cycle and manage the daily digital content plan, responding quickly to breaking celebrity news with engaging angles to meet traffic goals.
- Lead and mentor a small team, support print team members with digital output, set clear direction, edit content, provide feedback, and foster a collaborative newsroom culture.
- Collaborate with the print editorial team to adapt and optimize legacy content and print exclusives for a digital audience.
- Create compelling, SEO-optimized copy for web, social channels, and EDMs in the brand's distinct style.
- Create, edit, and optimize engaging video content for social platforms to grow audience engagement and reach.
- Drive affiliate revenue performance and oversee the production of shoppable stories and product roundups.
- Utilize analytics to inform daily content strategy, refine approaches, and identify new traffic opportunities, reporting on weekly performance.
- Ensure all digital copy is accurate, legally sound, and maintains high standards of punctuation and grammar.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in digital content creation within the celebrity or entertainment industry, preferably in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Proven track record in driving page views, audience growth, and social engagement.
- Sharp editorial judgment, excellent news sense, and a strong understanding of engaging storytelling and headlines.
- Strong SEO knowledge and experience with analytics, CMS platforms, and social tools.
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring content teams and optimizing team performance.
- Commercial awareness, understanding affiliate content, shoppable stories, and editorial support for revenue.
- A genuine passion for royals, reality TV, and celebrity news.
