About the Role

The Radiologic Tech Limited performs Diagnostic Imaging procedures for ambulatory patients in Physician Office and Clinic Settings as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. The technologist explains procedures, ensures patient comfort, and obtains diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.

Responsibilities

  • Performs exams in specific areas after demonstrating skills to a Radiologist/Clinician.
  • Performs high-quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Maintains production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring, taking action if levels are exceeded.
  • Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients, identify service needs, and ensure correct exams are performed on correct patients.
  • Establishes rapport with patients and others, instructing and communicating about tests.
  • Assesses patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepares patients and areas for procedures, positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment.
  • Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies.
  • Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation.
  • Reports issues to management or appropriate department.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Screens people to ensure safety before entering the department.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in the appropriate system according to department policies and standards.
  • Serves as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members.

Requirements

  • Able to perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
  • Able to provide services timely, accurately, and cost-efficient in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
  • Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.
  • Able to stay calm and helpful under stress and take appropriate steps to resolve issues.
  • Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service.
  • Remains professional, reviews patient satisfaction scores, and develops action plans when needed.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate for all age groups.
  • Able to take call, if required.

Education Level

  • Graduated from an Accredited Program
  • Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) with specialties in Chest, Extremities, Skull, and Spine.
