About the Role

Speechify's mission is to ensure reading is never a barrier to learning. Our text-to-speech products are used by over 50 million people globally to convert reading materials into audio, enhancing reading speed, comprehension, and retention. This role is ideal for strategic thinkers passionate about product decisions and creating delightful user experiences in a fast-paced, flat organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs, including public TTS API and internal APIs for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and consumption tracking.
• Oversee the backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience.

Requirements

• Proven experience in backend development with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers.
• Efficiency in ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments is preferred.
• Proficiency in deploying high availability applications on Kubernetes is preferred.
