About the Role
The Legal Recruiting Manager will lead and execute the law student recruiting strategy and annual summer program, with secondary duties in lateral associate and counsel acquisition. This role reports to the Director of Attorney Recruiting and collaborates with Hiring Partners, Practice Area Leaders, and Recruiting Department colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Oversee 1L and 2L law student recruitment processes, including strategy and timeline development.
- Manage candidate review, interview selection, screening, callback processes, offer decisions, and post-offer follow-up.
- Manage the national recruiting team to execute the Summer Associate Program, including onboarding, orientation, training, events, work assignments, evaluations, and offer decisions.
- Create and execute strategies for law school outreach, student engagement, and on-campus events.
- Coordinate events and efforts with law schools and student affinity groups.
- Collaborate with the U.S. recruiting team for firmwide consistency and resource sharing.
- Oversee 3L law school student recruiting.
- Handle day-to-day planning in lateral associate recruiting operations for patent agents, associates, and counsel candidates.
- Execute recruiting plans, including job postings, tracking open positions, developing candidate pools, and building networks.
- Systematize the search process and manage searches from start to finish.
- Foster relationships with legal industry contacts, search firms, and local law schools and universities.
- Analyze and interpret data to provide reports on law student recruiting, summer associate, and fall associate data.
- Collaborate with Legal Training & Development and Legal Personnel for new hire integration and onboarding.
- Stay updated on market data and research regarding compensation and hiring trends.
- Provide work direction and professional development for recruiting coordinator(s) and/or recruiting assistant(s).
- Collaborate with other administrative departments on marketing materials, website content, and social media strategy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Significant experience and demonstrated track record in recruiting in the legal industry.
- Action-oriented, proactive, and innovative approach to recruiting.
- Ability to provide exceptional service, with an emphasis on responsiveness, to internal and external clients.
- Team player committed to superior standards of professionalism and productivity.
- Adaptability in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
- Detail-oriented work manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Forward thinking and flexible approach to recruiting, with the ability to adjust to changing priorities.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Legal experience at a major law firm and/or in-house legal department preferred.
- Knowledge of viRecruit, viWork Allocation, Smartsheet, and Workday is a plus.
