About the Role

The Industrial Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and documenting new and existing products, ensuring solutions are functional, user-friendly, and aligned with brand, technology, and commercial requirements. The role focuses on concept development, usability, and manufacturability, supporting the delivery of products that meet quality, aesthetic, and production standards across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality design outputs that meet technical requirements, timelines, and defined success criteria.
  • Translate technical briefs into practical design solutions that meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Plan and prioritize design tasks to support delivery of agreed milestones and project outcomes.
  • Produce design outputs that balance usability, aesthetics, manufacturability, and commercial considerations.
  • Ensure design work is completed accurately and meets defined quality and performance expectations.
  • Develop artefacts that clearly convey design ideas and functionality.
  • Prepare accurate technical drawings and specifications to support manufacturing and production.
  • Present design concepts and prototypes in a clear and structured manner to support feedback and decision-making.
  • Incorporate user insights and feedback into design iterations to strengthen usability and product outcomes.
  • Apply practical understanding of materials and manufacturing processes to ensure design solutions are feasible, efficient, and ready to progress into production.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Excellence (DFX) principles during design development.
  • Build and test prototypes or samples to validate product functionality, usability, and performance.
  • Assess design feasibility by considering materials, production methods, safety requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Refine designs to support smooth transition from concept through to production readiness.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to the continuous improvement of design practices, team capability, and product outcomes.
  • Engage proactively with product, engineering, marketing, and New Product Introduction (NPI) stakeholders to maintain alignment and progress.
  • Communicate updates, risks, and design considerations clearly to support effective project delivery.
  • Share knowledge and contribute ideas through team forums.
  • Provide guidance and informal support to junior team members to strengthen team capability.
