Responsibilities
- Manage client flow into and out of the residential facility.
- Develop and maintain relationships with client referral sources and mental health services.
- Monitor treatment planning and charting for residential clients.
- Review client charts and records for confidentiality, security, and compliance.
- Oversee the development and implementation of client treatment/rehabilitation plans.
- Supervise Counselors, including conducting monthly supervision sessions and preparing evaluations.
- Ensure timely completion of charting and treatment planning by staff counselors.
- Monitor medication logs for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide follow-up on prescriptions with clients and physicians.
- Promote social rehabilitation philosophy among staff and clients.
- Assist in screening, hiring, and supervision of fill-in counselors, volunteers, and interns.
- Assist in training and evaluation of counselors, volunteers, and interns.
- Coordinate and participate in the maintenance of the program facility.
- Participate in the program's rotational on-call system.
- Respond to program emergencies professionally and promptly.
- Coordinate staff work schedules, including managing time off and coverage.
- Coordinate the collection of client data for billing purposes.
- Perform duties of the Counselor position as needed, including intake, counseling, and discharge planning.
- Attend assigned staff meetings and other programmatic/administrative meetings.
- Serve as a role model for positive employee relations and professional functioning.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
- Act in the capacity of the Program Director when designated.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have good working relationships with client referral sources and other related mental health services.
- Must review charts and client records on an ongoing basis to ensure confidentiality, security, and compliance with agency policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
- Must review the development and implementation of client treatment/rehabilitation plans.
- Must supervise Counselors, as assigned by the Program Director.
- Must conduct regular ongoing supervision sessions, either individually or in small groups, at least monthly, involving the Program Director when appropriate.
- Must prepare formal written evaluations for probationary staff in a timely manner, and for regular staff as needed, at least annually.
- Must ensure that individual staff counselors complete charting and treatment planning in an appropriate timeframe.
- Must monitor medication logs with the Program Director or Program Consultant to ensure accuracy, conformity with medication policies, and needs for refills of medications.
- Must provide follow-up with clients and/or physicians to keep prescriptions current.
- Must promote the social rehabilitation philosophy among program staff and clients.
- Must assist in the screening, hiring, and supervision of fill-in counselors, volunteers, and interns, bringing any supervision or mediation issues to the attention of the Program Director.
- Must assist in the training and evaluation of counselors, fill-in counselors, volunteers, and interns.
- Must advocate for, coordinate, and actively participate in the maintenance of the program facility.
- Must participate in the program's rotational on-call system.
- Must respond to program emergencies in a professional, thorough, and timely manner.
- Must coordinate the staff work schedule, including making arrangements for Program Director-approved vacations, holidays, illnesses, compensatory time off, and fill-in coverage.
- Must coordinate the collection of client data on the agency's client data forms.
- Must collect the information necessary to produce monthly billings.
- Must submit both to the Program Director in a timely manner.
- Must perform, as is necessary and appropriate, all duties of the Counselor position, including intake interviewing, treatment plan development, counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.
- Must attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other programmatic and/or administrative meetings, as assigned by the Program Director.
- Must serve as a role model for positive employee relations, professional functioning, and for adherence to the principles of social rehabilitation.
- Must comply with all applicable federal, state and local governmental laws and regulations, as well as all agency policies and procedures, including the code of ethics.
- Must act in the capacity of the Program Director when designated by the Director of Clinical Services or other senior management team member.
- Must perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director, including but not limited to meeting attendance, preparation of reports, and completion of special projects.
