About the Role
Ensure that cleanliness standards of guestrooms, meeting areas, public areas, and back-of-the-house are met through optimal training, staffing, supervision of labor, efficient management of operating supplies, and proactive monitoring of guest service scores and comments.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and monitor staff workload to ensure compliance with cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Maintain lost and found logs and storage and promptly follow up with guest emails.
- Maintain hotel par levels of inventory by conducting periodic inventory of guest supplies, small equipment, and linen.
- Operate department pursuant to OSHA requirements and guidelines.
- Act as Manager on Duty per schedule and be punctual.
- Ensure departure/checkout, guest service, and telephone service, while ensuring all brand standards are applied.
- Implement company and franchise programs.
- Prepare forecasts and reports and assist in the development of the rooms budget.
- Monitor and maintain front office systems and equipment for optimum performance.
- Track guest satisfaction surveys and maximize usage of the guest response tracking system.
- Interview, hire, train, develop, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline or termination when appropriate.
- Ensure timely completion of performance appraisals.
- Ensure all Housekeeping Quality Standards are complied with and consistently applied.
- Coordinate activities with other hotel departments to facilitate increased communication and guest satisfaction.
- Resolve customer complaints and anticipate potential problems by reviewing and monitoring complaints, operational issues, business flow, and associate performance.
- Develop strong relations with the Front Office team to discuss and implement sell-out strategies to continually improve occupancy levels and revenues.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years in housekeeping management.
- Experience managing in-house operated laundry operations.
- Able to effectively deal with internal and external customers, requiring patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Willingness to pitch-in and help co-workers as a team player.
- Able to observe and detect signs of emergency situations and remain calm and alert.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing equal employment opportunity, civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers.
- Able to make sound business decisions and take action quickly based on experience and judgment.
- Some lifting may be required.
- Position may require 75%+ of time on feet.
- Employees may be required to work varying schedules, including holidays and weekends, to reflect business needs.
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of brand's reward program.
