About the Role

As a Field Auto Appraiser, you'll be at the forefront of our claims process, meeting customers at their location to write estimates and guide them through the repair or total loss process. This role involves a mix of in-person visits, virtual inspections, and written communication, offering a fast-paced, hands-on experience that blends technical know-how, customer service, and field work.

Responsibilities

  • Meet customers at their home, repair shop, or tow yard.
  • Write estimates for vehicle repairs or total losses.
  • Guide customers through the repair or total loss process.
  • Perform in-person and virtual inspections.
  • Communicate with customers via written communication.
  • Evaluate damage on-site.
  • Collaborate with body shops and service providers.
  • Investigate casualty claims by performing detailed reviews of damage and interpreting policies to determine coverage.
  • Use phone, emails, and video chat with customers to facilitate a fast, fair, and easy claims process.
  • Offer customers their preferred communication method to discuss claim needs and provide updates.
  • Evaluate and negotiate claims settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants.
  • Utilize estimate tools, job aids, and settlement platforms.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to problem-solve.
  • Ensure claims are documented accurately and in line with policy agreements.
  • Maintain clear, timely records in the claims system.
  • Obtain an adjuster's license within 60 days of hire, if required.
  • Maintain all required licensing, including continuing education and renewal requirements.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience in auto collision estimating using CCC One.
  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to write precise and comprehensive estimates.
  • Comfortable with utilizing technology and various platforms for claims processing.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Must be in Hempstead, NY.
  • May be required to attend 2 weeks of training in Dallas, TX.
  • May be expected to obtain an adjuster’s license.
  • Must maintain all licensing required for the role.
  • Must submit to a background investigation.
  • Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working from home.
  • Must have reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload when working from home.
