About the Role

Join the MongoDB Server Query team to build a world-class distributed open source query engine. This role is crucial for data processing experience and performance, focusing on the MongoDB Query Language and the entire query lifecycle. You will also contribute to user-facing features like full-text search and vector search. As a people leader, you will help structure the organization, improve technical processes, provide mentorship, guide the product roadmap, and manage projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software engineers, ensuring their success, aiding career growth, and facilitating technical work.
  • Make coding contributions to the team’s projects as needed.
  • Provide feedback on system architecture and new feature design.
  • Ensure the team runs smoothly by eliminating technical barriers and coordinating with other teams.
  • Contribute to planning for organizational growth, including resource allocation, hiring, and project assignment.
  • Set team culture by example.
  • Estimate project delivery timelines and communicate project execution status to upper management.

Requirements

  • Experience building production-level code with a large user base, robust design structure, and rigorous code quality.
  • Degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture.
  • Proficient in C++ or a similar programming language.
  • Experience managing small engineering teams.
  • Passionate about running teams, mentorship, and coaching.
