About the Role

Vortex Doors, a leading commercial and industrial door repair company, is seeking an Experienced Commercial Door Technician. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining doors, docks, and hardware, ensuring efficient and safe operation. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship, offering diverse service calls to customer sites.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, docks, and related hardware.
Diagnose and repair common door issues, including broken springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components.
Install and configure door hardware such as locks, handles, closers, and access control systems.
Ensure all installations comply with safety and building codes.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and explaining repair processes.
Maintain accurate records of service visits, repairs, and installations.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues with doors efficiently, communicating cost-effective solutions to customers.
Perform quality checks on installations and repairs to meet company standards.

Requirements

Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
Ability to move items weighing 50 lbs. or more.
Physical ability to continuously lift, bend, climb ladders up to 20', and work on knees for extended periods.
Proficiently operate power tools.
Interpersonal skills for customer relations and issue resolution.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to be persuasive with customers.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Reliable and self-motivated.
High school diploma or equivalent.
4+ years of experience in the commercial door service industry.
Knowledge of various door types, brands, and hardware.
Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
Proficiency in performing mathematical calculations and reading a tape measure accurately.
Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols.
Knowledge of computers.
Ability to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
Must pass drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check.
