About the Role
Parker Animal Care is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible individualized care. We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual excited about helping us maintain our high standards of animal care and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Gain knowledge of common diseases, their symptoms, and means of transmission
- Gain knowledge of preventative health care recommendations to answer questions and assist in marketing veterinary services
- Safely restrain patients during examinations, injections, and treatments
- Learn basic front-desk procedures to assist receptionists with phone systems, practice-management software, and appointment scheduling
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
- Run laboratory testing collected by the veterinarian and technician
- Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
Requirements
- Professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude when interacting with pet owners
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting
- Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment
- Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
