About the Role

LexisNexis seeks a recently practicing attorney with 6+ years of experience as a litigator to help develop online legal content, products, tools, and solutions for attorneys. This role requires recent and intimate knowledge of litigation practice and workflow, utilizing practical legal knowledge to inform content development and determine product strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and updating authoritative, accurate, up-to-date, market-leading, polished practical insights on a variety of litigation procedure and substantive topics in state and federal courts
  • Managing end-to-end development of your practice area's content and features aligned with the strategy and goals of the business
  • Participating in team initiatives/projects and supporting managers and other business partners (including Sales, Marketing, and Technical Product Managers) to drive commercial success
  • Regularly eliciting and integrating customer feedback to create the most useful legal content, tools, and resources
  • Recruiting, managing, and editing content created by external authors to ensure timely delivery of content
  • Making recommendations concerning overall content development strategy and expansion, and assist in product design
  • Maintaining awareness of practice area trends and news
  • Monitoring competitiveness of the product offering
  • Thinking creatively about tools and solutions to evolve the product
  • Understanding the value proposition of Practical Guidance and representing the content and practice area within the organization and externally
  • Demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a state and federal court litigator
  • Deep subject matter knowledge of the litigation workflow in one or more of the following substantive areas: Commercial litigation, Securities litigation, White collar government investigations/litigation, Intellectual property litigation, Financial services litigation
  • Ability to manage and edit content created by external authors in one or more of the following substantive areas: Criminal litigation, Trusts and estates litigation / will contests, Real estate, Insurance litigation, Life sciences litigation, Healthcare litigation, Environmental litigation, Employment litigation, Data security and privacy litigation, Family law litigation
  • Extensive experience in all procedural aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, document discovery, e-discovery, taking and defending depositions, motion practice, settlements, interlocutory appeals, trial preparations, and creating/managing an overall general litigation strategy
  • Excellent writing, editing, and analytical skills; strong practical writer with the ability to write effectively and concisely
  • Experience with editing, presenting CLEs, and/or drafting client alerts a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be highly organized, self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and conducting online legal research
  • Active bar membership in good standing

Salary/Compensations

  • Home based-New York $104,800 - $174,700
  • If performed in New York City, the base pay range is $114,300 - $190,500
  • If performed in Rochester, NY, the base pay range is $95,300 - $158,800
  • This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus
