About the Role
CIOnews is building the editorial and community infrastructure for the next generation of CIO and Enterprise Architect leadership. This role is for the first dedicated owner of our community program, responsible for building the function from the ground up, including strategy, program design, member experience, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Define the operating model for the community, including member lifecycle, onboarding, engagement, and feedback loops.
- Plan and execute community activations such as executive dinners, roundtables, and co-branded events.
- Propose and evaluate new community initiatives like vertical cohorts, recognition programs, or peer working groups.
- Build and maintain relationships with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, CAIOs, CISOs, and Enterprise Architects.
- Represent CIOnews credibly in meetings with senior technology leaders and at events.
- Act as a primary point of contact for community members, understanding their priorities to make low-friction asks.
- Source, recruit, and shape story ideas based on community relationships and editorial judgment.
- Partner with the editorial team to translate practitioner conversations into published content like podcasts, columns, and interviews.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of experience in executive community building, peer network management, or a closely related field.
- Experience driving CIO or enterprise architect communities is a plus.
- Experience building and scaling community, champions, or advocacy programs at enterprise SaaS or developer tools companies, with demonstrated business outcomes.
- Strong opinions on effective community program strategies for specific audiences.
- Editorial instincts and business acumen to identify interesting enterprise IT topics.
- A builder's mindset, comfortable defining processes in ambiguous environments.
- Systems thinker eager to use AI to scale community operations.
- Direct experience in an IT leadership or Enterprise Architect role is a plus.
- Experience at a business publication or trade publication for IT leadership is a plus.
- Familiarity with enterprise AI, automation, or integration platforms is a plus.
- Existing relationships with CIOs or practitioner organizations is a plus.
