About the Role

Provide technical leadership in the design, review, and oversight of mechanical systems across major projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications. Mentor junior engineers, support cross-disciplinary coordination, and deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate on-site mechanical and electrical activities to comply with specifications, requirements, and codes.
  • Coordinate drawings and information to eliminate interference problems.
  • Provide directions during functional performance testing of all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in updating and achieving schedule requirements, mechanical and electrical RFIs and shop drawings, and administering mechanical/electrical project completion requirements.
  • Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors.
  • Report accurate quantities for labor cost reports and monitor material ledgers to ensure estimate quantities are sufficient.
  • Find solutions to conflicts in structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications and follow-up with consultants and sub-trades to completion.
  • Ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
  • Review scope for early procurement items.
  • Manage M&E subcontractor costs and track deviations from initial contract.
  • Commission equipment and oversee handover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related discipline.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) required.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE/PENG) preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in heavy civil projects or bridges structures.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Knowledge with MS Project is required.
  • Knowledge of SketchUp is recommended.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data.
