About the Role

The Paramedic provides advanced supportive and definitive care to emergency and non-emergency patients in pre-hospital and hospital environments. This role involves collaboration with various departments and personnel to ensure the highest standard of patient care and customer service, performing emergency response and inter-facility transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient care utilizing knowledge of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEEP), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Assess and treat medical or trauma situations using appropriate techniques, resources, and equipment while maintaining high standards of patient care and professionalism.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within established treatment protocols and the current standard of care.
• Provide accurate and pertinent written documentation of all patient care and EMS responses.
• Complete all required Empress and NYS paperwork.
• Maintain all patient care equipment, vehicles, supplies, daily logs, and patient care records.
• Operate Empress Vehicles and equipment as required, according to company policy.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and promote safe work practices.
• Report to work on time and understand that shifts may exceed assigned times, with mandatory overtime potentially assigned.
• Work any of the available shifts as part of normal duties.
• Follow all Empress Policies and Procedures.
• Attend mandatory continuing medical education, updates, and staff meetings as required.
• Comply with established guidelines for uniform dress and standard equipment regulations.
• Assist in the provision of public information and educational programs to promote EMT-Paramedics and Empress services.

Requirements

• Current New York State Certification (EMT-P).
• Current AHA (CPR, PALS, ACLS) Certification.
• A valid Driver’s License with a driving record meeting company requirements.
• Satisfactorily complete all aspects of the pre-employment process, including drug screening, background check, and physical agility test (CPAT).
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• National Registry Certification as a Paramedic.
• Westchester REMAC Certification.
• Hudson Valley REMAC Certification.
• NYC REMAC Certification (If working in the Montefiore Division).
