About the Role

We are seeking a technically proficient, product-minded engineer to advance AI capabilities within Just Eat Takeaway. You will collaborate with ambitious internal teams and technology partners, maximizing their use of advanced AI and translating insights into organizational improvements. This is a hands-on role focused on analyzing complex workflows, identifying critical gaps, and generating technical insights to influence development.

Responsibilities

Work directly with internal teams and strategic partners to understand critical workflows, uncover failure modes, and identify the highest-impact opportunities for AI improvement.
Prototype and iterate on prompts, agents, and workflow designs to understand system behaviour and unlock real value.
Synthesize findings for Product Engineering and Platform teams, translating usage patterns into clear, reproducible evaluations, benchmarks, and technical artefacts.
Build repeatable tools, patterns, and evaluation approaches to enhance quality across multiple use cases.
Operate with strong judgment in ambiguous environments, balancing immediate problem-solving with long-term systemic improvement.
Build relationships across engineering and product communities, serving as a trusted technical partner.

Requirements

Strong software engineering and AI fundamentals.
Experience in a startup or a product-focused role in a larger organization.
Experience building AI applications, agents, or evaluation systems.
Ability to reason clearly about model behaviour in complex workflows.
Comfort working directly with experienced SMEs and translating their challenges into technical signals.
Fluency in prototyping, debugging, evaluation design, and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience working across every layer of the stack.
Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
High agency and a strong product sense, with a bias toward building lasting solutions.
Deeply experienced with AI tools for fast solution creation.
Ability to balance model usage to maximize ROI.
Familiarity with complex marketplace businesses is a bonus.
Experience as an early-stage startup engineer or in a previous FDE-style role is a bonus.
