About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment. This role is crucial in maintaining facility standards and supporting overall operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties.
• Complete all tasks on the daily schedule.
• Manage hazardous waste responsibilities, including collection, classification, storage, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
• Maintain daily upkeep of the assigned area.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Identify and address at-risk behavior of self and others.
• Collaborate with team members on work assignments.
• Perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Adhere to all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Follow directions and respond to supervision.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
• Provide support during staff shortages.
• Assist the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct.
• Understand customer service principles and satisfaction.
• Utilize reporting systems and understand the work environment.

Requirements

• 3-6 months of training or experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
• May require a valid driver's license.
• Must have completed all safety and task training certifications.
• May require forklift certification.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, and manuals.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Skills

• Bilingual is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Willingness to share knowledge with the team.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment upkeep and care.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
