About the Role
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting teaching and learning. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and wellbeing. This role involves working as part of the school team to provide a safe, high-quality early years environment for young children, supporting the teaching team with routines and organizational matters and monitoring children’s safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist with curriculum planning by providing safe, creative, and appropriate educational opportunities for all children within an inclusive environment.
- Prepare activities, organize programs, and arrange equipment.
- Ensure activities are carried out safely and responsibly, adhering to statutory responsibilities.
- Advise the room leader of any concerns regarding children or equipment.
- Contribute to the school’s highest standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and personal and food hygiene.
- Work creatively with children within the EY framework as instructed by the room leader.
- Engage in positive interactions with children by supporting or providing stimulating activities that respond to their interests and developmental needs.
- Ensure all children have equal access to learning and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with school staff, visiting professionals, agencies, parents, children, and families.
- Work with the room leader to establish an appropriate safe and secure learning environment.
Requirements
- Relevant experience working with children, ideally in a school or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct expectations in schools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A warm, patient, and proactive approach, with high expectations for pupil behaviour and engagement.
- Flexibility and a collaborative mindset, with willingness to support across a range of classroom and school activities.
- Ability to support learning effectively in both group and one-to-one settings, including behaviour and classroom management.
- Experience in an international or diverse school environment is desirable.
- Additional language skills relevant to the school location are advantageous but not essential.
