About the Role

The Patient Services Representative performs general business office functions, including billing, insurance verification, and patient financial counseling, while supporting the US Oncology Compliance Program and assisting patients with community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and enter accurate patient insurance and demographic information.
  • Register patients in the system.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket amounts at the time of service.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-authorizations or referrals.
  • Advise patients and families on insurance benefits and financial obligations.
  • Post line items and adjustments to patient accounts.
  • Reconcile daily work batches and prepare bank deposits.
  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for consistency.
  • Submit and process claims for payment.
  • Research and resolve claim delays and patient billing complaints.
  • Follow up on assigned accounts and monitor for delinquent payments.
  • Establish financial arrangements with patients.
  • Assist patients in obtaining community resources such as housing, transportation, and financial support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use hands for office tasks.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges.
