About the Role
This individual contributor position manages complex, high-exposure commercial claims for a specialized line of business, working closely with senior leaders. The role requires managing all claim resolution activities in accordance with company protocols while achieving quality and customer service standards. Individuals in this role are recognized as the most senior technical experts in their area of expertise and have national or company-wide scope of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Manages an inventory of complex commercial claims with significant loss exposure, overseeing all aspects of claim handling, including coverage determinations, investigations, and resolution strategies.
- Ensures exceptional customer service by driving continuous improvements and providing professional and timely claims services.
- Verifies coverage, sets and manages reserves by reviewing policy language, estimating claim valuation, and following company protocols.
- Leads investigations to determine compensability, liability, and damages by gathering information and working with experts.
- Drives claim resolution by developing and executing resolution strategies, managing reserves, negotiating settlements, and managing litigation.
- Establishes and manages claim budgets by selecting and managing resources to ensure timely resolution.
- Identifies and addresses subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud by evaluating claim facts and making appropriate referrals.
- Achieves quality standards by ensuring company protocols are followed, work is accurate and timely, and claims are resolved and paid promptly.
- Prepares and presents complex information to senior leadership, customers, and counsel.
- Maintains subject matter expertise and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements by staying current on insurance laws and trends.
- Mentors, guides, develops, and delivers training to less experienced Claim Professionals.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
- Advanced negotiation experience.
- Professional designations are highly encouraged (e.g. CPCU).

Experience Level
- Typically a minimum ten years of relevant experience.
Education Level
- Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in a related discipline or equivalent.
Salary/Compensations
- $97,000 to $189,000 annually
