About the Role

The US Commercial Bank (CCB) is a rapidly growing business targeting companies with annual revenue generally from $100 million to $3 billion. Commercial Lending Management (CLM) serves as an in-business credit function organized around strategic industries and a global target market approach. CLM plays a critical role in the client delivery model for the CCB, translating thought-leadership, industry and product expertise, and end-to-end ownership of the credit relationship into best-in-class lending solutions. This position reports directly to the US CLM DTC Industry Head and will be based in San Francisco, CA. CLM is essential for the delivery of a wide range of financial solutions to Citi CCB clients, working in direct partnership with Relationship Managers and Independent Risk, to execute on the firm’s and client’s business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time
  • Leads and manages pipeline, risk and portfolio reviews for respective subsector
  • Represents business as senior credit professional for respective portfolio in various forums, including client discussion
  • Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Provides informed views and effective client solutions in partnership with Coverage, Product and Risk, while balancing risk/reward trade-off
  • Drives quality and timeliness of end-to-end lending process and all credit deliverables to ensure timely response
  • Provides leadership on various special projects to meet evolving business needs, and recommend changes to improve existing processes to achieve greater efficiency and controls
  • Primary responsibility for ensuring completion of remediations, controls, working with peers in coverage and review of approval packages prior to submission to SCO.
  • Partner with the Sector Head with the overall day to day portfolio management of the DTC portfolio, and more specifically, less complex transactions.
  • Ultimately responsible for the development of SVP Credit Officers as well as junior employees.

Requirements

  • 13+ years relevant experience
  • Strong experience supporting Digital, Technology, Communications, or innovation‑driven businesses
  • Leadership experience managing and developing senior credit professionals
  • Proven track record of risk management & supporting the growth of client relationships through thought partnership
  • Strong credit fundamentals with the ability to articulate a view, work across a range of credit products, with experience in early problem recognition and resolution skills
  • Reaches decisions in a timely and transparent manner, knows when enough information has been collected to make sound decisions, takes calculated risks with the confidence to defend their credit view
  • Extensive understanding of various Citi and CCB-specific credit policies, processes, and procedures, and how to apply these concepts consistently in practice, including ensuring the portfolio is appropriately risk-rated and classified, properly secured (if applicable) and that early warning signs are established and proactively addressed.
