About the Role

This entry-level position provides lifecycle support for Machinery Control Systems (MCS) on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyer, including shipboard and Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) support for four different MCS variants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems of all variants of fielded systems (microprocessor based control systems) both at LBES and shipboard.
  • Review technical documentation related to all variants of fielded systems and future fielded systems.
  • Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBES.
  • Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support of all variants of fielded systems at LBES.
  • Provide technical input to the design of future MCS systems.
  • Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of fielded systems and future fielded systems.
  • Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Discipline, Computer Science, Mathematics with a field of concentration in computer science.
  • 0-3 years of experience in electrical or computer engineering as it pertains to control systems in an industrial environment.
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must have a valid US passport or ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.

Skills

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures associated with industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams.
  • Proficiency in the use of test tools associated with industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools associated with industrial control system troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting tools.
  • Basic technical writing ability.
  • Self-motivated and ability to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within an integrated team environment.
  • Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or other PLC systems.
  • Experience upgrading hardware platforms of Legacy Embedded Systems.
  • Experience with Versa Module Eurocard (VME) systems.
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting networked, IP-based systems.
