About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Shift Foreman or Designate and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to safely running Semi-automatic and Automatic rewind lines.
  • Read and follow instructions in Shift notes pertaining to the product being run.
  • Verify that the identification tag corresponds with the product being produced.
  • Set up and string-up the line.
  • Change dies and butt weld breaks.
  • Control net weight, cast, pitch, surface material, and physical appearance according to specification.
  • Check and record outside diameter as required.
  • Wind the electrode into spools.
  • Properly secure the start end of each coil, spool, reel, or drum.
  • Clear and secure the inside end of each Electrode Product, when required.
  • Properly label, bag, box, and palletize the finished production.
  • Identify each carton and Electrode Product with the appropriate identification and operator code.
  • Maximize the productivity of the production line.
  • Change parts when needed and correct problems before they affect product quality.
  • Submit samples of finished product to the Quality Assurance Department for evaluation.
  • Follow Permission Notes and Special Order Instructions that may affect the product being run.
  • Supply the line with packaging material, including drums, reels, labels, and other packaging accessories.
  • Report mechanical or electrical problems to the Production Team Lead/Foreman/Shift Foreman or the Maintenance Department.
  • Review, understand, and follow departmental procedures, specifications, plant rules, and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Abide by and actively support Lincoln Electric’s Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate co-operatively in the company’s GPMP and Merit Rating System.
  • Actively participate in company, staff or individual meetings for effective teamwork, communication, and cooperation.
  • Continually contribute to the profitability of the company by initiating, recommending, and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
  • Conduct any general duties, specific projects, and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Shift Foreman or Designate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Read, write and do general math well enough to keep the records associated with this job.
  • Able to understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job.
  • Be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious; requiring minimal supervision.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Able to visually recognize and distinguish different color codes.
  • Able to work well as part of a team and get along with people.
  • Excellent attendance record.
