About the Role

The Director of Treasury is responsible for supporting the cash flow forecast, strategic planning, and working capital management for the George Weston Group of Companies. This role offers the opportunity to lead a key strategic facet of the Treasury function, build and foster a collaborative team environment, and provide mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Create liquidity funding plan that aligns with organizational capital allocation plan/framework.
  • Develop strong partnerships across the business to understand future liquidity and working capital requirements.
  • Drive improvements on short-term cash flow forecast across the enterprise.
  • Understand and manage components of working capital requirements to drive improvements in indirect cash flow forecasting and cash conversion metrics.
  • Provide strategic oversight and execution of the Loblaw Supplier Finance program.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Procurement team to manage the operating plan and achieve financial targets.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to optimize liquidity processes and drive forecast improvements by leveraging technology and statistical models.
  • Regularly review key performance indicators related to working capital, such as inventory turnover and days payable outstanding (DPO), and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in preparing presentations for board and shareholder meetings, senior leadership meetings, and strategic committees.
  • Oversee the short-term investment portfolio and manage investment principles, tenor, and instruments aligned with the governance model and external market environment.
  • Support other Treasury initiatives and functions as required.

Requirements

  • CPA designation is a requirement.
  • University degree in Business, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Math.
  • MBA/CFA/CTP designations are considered an asset.
  • 6+ years working in a Corporate Treasury environment.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Retail industry experience is an asset.
  • Proven experience in managing teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of successfully building, guiding, and developing teams.
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and compellingly with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Extensive experience in corporate liquidity management using both direct and indirect methods.
  • Experience analyzing/interpreting retail working capital and its impact on cash flow metrics.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable interpreting and reviewing financial statements and external disclosures.
  • Firm understanding of the Canadian and US payment landscape and associated cash management structures, tools, and services.
  • Experience with Power BI/DAX, and Python for dashboard creation and data analysis is an asset.

Salary/Compensations

  • Base salary of $170,000 - $190,000 per year, plus applicable bonus.
